Message Fragmentation in Disruptive Networks

چکیده
In networks with unstable links fragmentation of a message into smaller pieces before transmission can reduce message blocking due to disrupted transmission and increase the utilization of contact durations; thus increasing the connectivity of the network for large messages. In this paper, we formalize message fragmentation in such networks, investigate the impact of fragmentation on message forwarding over a single link, and discuss fragmentation strategies for originating nodes.

Message Fragmentation for Disrupted Links
In networks with unstable links the connection between the sender and the receiver may be cut before the entire message has been transmitted. Quantization of the message into blocks before its transmission, enables message fragments consisting of one or more such blocks to be transmitted successfully, even if the connection time is too short for transmitting the entire message. But fragmentatio...
متن کاملEnergy-Aware Probabilistic Epidemic Forwarding Method in Heterogeneous Delay Tolerant Networks
Due to the increasing use of wireless communications, infrastructure-less networks such as Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs) should be highly considered. DTN is most suitable where there is an intermittent connection between communicating nodes such as wireless mobile ad hoc network nodes. In general, a message sending node in DTN copies the message and transmits it to nodes which it encounters. A...
متن کاملDesign an Efficient Community-based Message Forwarding Method in Mobile Social Networks
Mobile social networks (MSNs) are a special type of Delay tolerant networks (DTNs) in which mobile devices communicate opportunistically to each other. One of the most challenging issues in Mobile Social Networks (MSNs) is to design an efficient message forwarding scheme that has a high performance in terms of delivery ratio, latency and communication cost. There are two different approaches fo...
متن کاملAnti-localization anonymous routing for Delay Tolerant Network
This paper focuses on the problem of how to allow a source to send a message without revealing its physical location and proposes an anti-localization routing protocol, ALAR, to achieve anonymous delivery in Delay/Disruption Tolerant Networks. The objectives of ALAR are to minimize the probability of a data source being localized and to maximize the destination’s probability of receiving the me...
متن کاملRateless Coding over Wireless Relay Networks Using Amplify/Decode and Forward Relays
In this paper two different rateless transmissionschemes are developed. In the proposed scheme, relay node candecode and forward the message to the destination if they areable to decode it, or amplify and forward the message to thedestination. Based on the analysis and simulation resultsprovided in this paper, the proposed method has bettertransmission time than the scheme which only the relay ...
